Nutrients
Cronometer tracks up to 95 nutrients and compounds, drawing on lab-analyzed sources such as NCCDB. MacroFactor tracks micronutrients too, and shows the top contributing foods for any nutrient; Cronometer’s version of that, Oracle Nutrient Search, is part of Gold.
Targets and coaching
MacroFactor’s core is its coach: it estimates your energy expenditure from your weight and what you log, and adjusts your targets every week. Cronometer lets you set targets for energy, macros and micronutrients, and Gold’s macro scheduler sets different ones by weekday.
Price and ads
Cronometer Basic is free, with ads in the app and on its website; Gold is $10.99 a month or $59.99 a year. MacroFactor has no free plan and no ads: $11.99 a month, $47.99 every six months or $71.99 a year after a 7‑day trial.

A third option: Calorie Tape
If you want neither ads nor a subscription, Calorie Tape, which we make, is free with no ads, needs no account and works offline. It shows every nutrient its sources report (65 for USDA’s generic foods), fewer than Cronometer, and you set its targets yourself.
